I build conversational AI that sounds like a person worth talking to.
I am Johan Gace, a founder and engineer who works at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the natural world. I design how AI products speak, and I build them end to end: the product, the design, and the AI engineering inside.
I spent close to a decade in technology, including time at Amazon, where I worked on putting a large language model into Alexa, a voice millions of people speak to. Then I trained as an outdoor guide. Most of what I make now lives under Wyld Way, the company I founded.
How I think about conversational AI
A general model can hold a conversation. It cannot, on its own, hold the right one. The difference is craft: knowing when to speak and when to stay quiet, how to steady someone who is struggling without crowding them, and how to keep a single, trustworthy voice as a product grows and the prompts multiply.
My work is to make that craft explicit. I write the voice and the rules it lives by, build them into the prompts and flows on the models you already use, and stand up the evaluation layer that catches drift before your users do. The aim is simple: a product people trust enough to keep talking to.
I learned this twice. Once at the scale of Alexa, and again building Rewyld's guide, where the entire product is tone.
